New research suggest that children watching TV can effect their behavior. In the Monday”s addition of the pediatric journal it says that preschoolers that spent time watching violent behavior would have more aggression in the classroom. The researches say the behavior expressed by the children was directly effected by what they were seeing at home. Those children that watched the Muppet or similar shows that are used to teach children good behavior were well behaved and interacted well with their peers.”We demonstrated that an intervention to modify the viewing habits of preschool-aged children can significantly enhance their overall social and emotional competence and that low-income boys may derive the greatest benefit,” Dr. Dimitri Christakis of Seattle Children’s Research Institute and his co-authors concluded.”Although television is frequently implicated as a cause of many problems in children, our research indicates that it may also be part of the solution.” So the next time you sit down with your kid which show are you going to put on?
